The best way to get to know us is to attend a service or event. Our website is designed to give you an idea about what we're about. Although nothing beats meeting members and the rabbi in person. If you want to set up a meeting with Rabbi Alex or with a member of our Membership and Growth committee to learn more about Agudas Achim or to discuss your specific needs, please contact either Jessica or Keri in the office, and one of them will be happy to make arrangements. One of the questions most people have about joining any synagogue is "what does it cost?" We understand that synagogue dues and schools fees can be a significant barrier to joining. Please know that our financial secretary is available to work with any family to ensure that no one is turned away because of financial reasons.
OUR DUES PHILOSOPHY
Synagogue dues are based on a system to fund the building of the Mishkan as described in Exodus. Dues consist of a fixed amount, which is the same for all families, plus a variable portion determined by each family's gross income.
First, all members are required to pay a half-shekel amount, which is $500. According to Exodus 30, families are required to give, and this nominal amounts fosters a sense of equity. In addition, each member family contributes $180 annually to our building fund. We, of course, hope that everyone will give according to their ability. We're a small congregation, and we rely on dues and school fees to meet our financial obligations. Our financial secretary is available to work with members facing financial hardships.
